Working with Queen Anne’s County Television, MACo has developed a video for newly elected officials offering advice to help you through your first year in office. This video features several current and former county elected officials answering a few frequently asked questions – their best advice for new officials, things they might have done differently, how to work with the media, and more. We hope that you will take a few moments to view the video, which can be viewed below, on MACo’s website or by clicking here.
To learn more about serving as a local elected official, attend our Newly Elected Officials Orientation to be held during MACo’s Winter Conference on January 7, 2015 from 8:oo am – 1:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort in Cambridge, Maryland.
This training program will introduce newly elected officials to local government structure, budgeting, their role in the legislative process, and mentors who will take the time to answer their questions in a roundtable format. Please view more details here. This orientation is included in Winter Conference registration prices for newly elected officials only – there is no extra cost to attend this event, but participants must register for at least Wednesday of Winter Conference (please view our registration brochure for more details about Winter Conference).
