Calvert County has been recognized with an Outstanding Performance Award for its handling of the NACo prescription discount card program. NACo’s award recognizes counties that have increased participation in the program. Calvert County with a population of 90,000 recorded 1,223 new claims from June 2010 to May 2011.
There is no cost to county taxpayers for NACo and Calvert County to make these money-saving cards available to residents. Cards are available at all Calvert County libraries, senior centers, the Health Department and the Calvert County Department of Community Resources, located at 30 Duke Street in Prince Frederick.
Launched in 2004 as a 17-county pilot program, the NACo in partnership with CVS Caremark, introduced the NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card program. The program, offered exclusively to families residing in any participating NACo-member county, provides a discount on commonly prescribed medications for those that do not have prescription drug insurance.
