The “Budget Battle” in Annapolis

WBFF-TV’s John Rydell reports on the major issues being discussed as the House and Senate work to resolve their differences with their respective FY 2013 budget plans.

With just one week left in this year’s General Assembly, lawmakers remain divided over balancing the budget.

The gas tax seems to be dying. The Senate wants to increase the income tax for virtually all Marylanders. Delegates, prefer to limit income tax hikes for individuals earning more than 100-thousand.

Lawmakers are also at odds over how to shift the funding of teachers’ pensions to Baltimore City and the counties.
