Conduit Street has previously posted summaries by MACo and the Maryland Farm Bureau of Administration’s proposed septic system legislation (HB 445 / SB 236 ).  The Administration has released its own summary that describes the purpose and provisions of the bills.

SB 236 will be heard today at 1:00 PM in the Senate Education, Health, and Environmental Affairs Committee.  HB 445 will be heard tomorrow at 1:00 PM in the House Environmental Matters Committee.  MACo will be testifying at both hearings and will state that the bill as introduced would override local land use authority and will have to be substantially amended before MACo could consider supporting the bill.  MACo Associate Director Les Knapp will be joined by various county elected officials and planners for the hearings.
