The Maryland Transportation and Land Use Strategies Group is a workgroup formed by the Maryland Department of the Environment that will review and make recommendations for new State and local policies to support the State’s current climate change activities. These policy recommendations will focus on State and local transportation and land use policies, including vehicle and transit requirements, sustainable land use planning, zoning, and coordination with PlanMaryland.
At the Group’s second meeting on December 14, the Group considered the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Carbon Neutral Corridor proposal for US 40 and California legislation that sets regional greenhouse gas reductions based on land use and links regional transportation and housing efforts.
The Group plans to form a technical workgroup that will meet during the 2012 Session and then resume normal meetings after Session ends. MACo Associate Director Les Knapp is a Group member. Group meetings are open to the public. The next meeting of the Group has not yet been scheduled.
