The Maryland Farm Bureau is hosting a septics symposium on August 16 from 9 am to 3 pm at Chesapeake College on the Eastern Shore. MACo is a co-sponsor of the event. Speakers will discuss proposals concerning the use of septic systems in Maryland. Confirmed panelists include representatives from the agricultural, builder, Smart Growth, and county communities. Delegate Maggie McIntosh, Chair of the Task Force on Sustainable Growth and Wastewater Disposal is also scheduled to speak. The Task Force will issue legislative and regulatory recommendations for septics by the end of this year.
County speakers include Kent County Planning and Zoning Director Gail Owings, former Calvert County Planning and Zoning Director Greg Bowen, and Cecil County Commissioner Tari Moore.
