The Allegany County Commissioners announced that residents can now qualify for the National Association of Counties (NACo) Prescription Discount Card Program. Launched in 2004 as a 17-county pilot program, provides a discount on commonly prescribed medications for those individuals that do not have prescription drug insurance. Cardholders save, on average, 24% off the full retail cost of their prescription medicine. According to an Allegany County press release, the program is expected to be available as of June 1, 2011.
