The Governor’s FY 12 budget includes a proposal to shift a portion of  the cost of conducting property assessments from the state to the county governments.  According to a January 24  blog post by Meg Tully in the Frederick News Post,  such a shift could cost Frederick County $1.3 Million next year, states Mike Gastley, the county’s Budget Officer.  The county is already facing an $11.8 million deficit.
