Deferred Compensation Program Offered by NACo

In an economic climate where counties are faced with budget deficits and decreased  revenues,  government employers and employees are faced with the daunting task of deciding whether retirement plans are something that is financially practical. A study conducted by researchers at Dartmoth College found that there are a number of barriers facing both employees and employers when looking for prospective retirement plans. The study found that employees generally question whether they make enough money to set aside a percentage of their salary, while employers are less inclined to offer a plan if they have to research and find one themselves.  The National Association of Counties (NACo) and Nationwide Retirement Solutions (NRS) offer a program that addresses the needs and concerns of both employers and employees.

For more than 30 years, NACo in partnership with NRS, has been providing  counties nationwide with the resources to offer their employees financially secure retirement plans through the NACo Deferred Compensation Program. Through one-on-one interactions with NRS representatives and an abundance of online educational resources, employers enjoy a program that is of little to no cost for them, while employees enjoy sound financial planning.  For more information please contact Lisa Cole by email at lcole@naco.org or Louie Watson by email at WatsonL2@Nationwide.com.
