Dorchester County Withdraws MOE Waiver Request

Today Dorchester County released a letter formally withdrawing its request for a waiver from the maintenance of effort funding requirement for public schools. According to the letter, “sufficient funds have been identified to cover the additional $354,728 needed to fully fund Maintenance of Effort for FY 2011.”

The Maryland State Board of Education is scheduled to hold its hearings on the remaining waiver requests on May 25. Information on that process, including various documents filed by counties seeking waivers and other stakeholders, is available at the State Board Website. Currently, two counties — Wicomico and Montgomery — are pursuing waivers from their FY 2011 funding requirements.
