Commissioners Approve FY11 County Budgets; No New Taxes for Citizens

Faced with a $4.6 million shortfall for the General Fund Operating Budgets, the Charles County Commissioners voted to approve a combination of revenue and expenditure adjustments to balance the fiscal year 2011 budgets. During their regular session on Thursday, May 13, 2010, the Commissioners unanimously approved the Constant Yield Tax Rate and the General Fund Operating Budgets. The Constant Yield Tax Rate, which is currently at $1.026 per $100 of assessed value, will remain unchanged for Fiscal Year 2011, which begins July 1, 2010. As promised, the Commissioners did not balance the budget on the backs of the citizens and remained committed to providing quality services to Charles County residents.
