The Federal Communications Commission’s 2013 narrowbanding mandate requires that all non-federal public safety licensees using 25 kHz (kilohertz) radio systems convert to using 12.5 kHz efficiencies systems. Those that do not comply with the requirements face the loss of communication capabilities.
