Calvert County Commission Primary Election Wrap-Up

Following election night, multiple Republican incumbents to the Calvert County Commission lost to new challengers in party primary.

Calvert County MD sealCalvert has five county commissioners with two elected at-large and three elected by district.

At-Large – Incumbents Todd Ireland (R) and Earl Hance (R) lost their party nominations to Patti Stueckler (R) and Jason Scaggs (R) who won with 38 and 27 percent of the vote, respectively. Candidates Antoine S. White (D) and Judy Pedersen (D) won their two party nominations.

District 1 – Incumbent Mike Hart (R) faced Patrick E. Flaherty (R) and Jennifer L. Brown (R) in their party primary and won with 58 percent of the vote. Ethan Cox (D) ran unopposed and will continue on to the general election.

District 2 – Incumbent Mark C. Cox, Sr. (R) lost to Kenneth B. Lee (R), who carried 66 percent of the vote. There were no democratic challengers in the primary.

District 3 – Incumbent Catherine M. Grasso (R) beat Kelly D. McConkey (R) with 59 percent. Michael Bennett (D) ran unopposed.
