Harford County Fills Board of Education Vacancy

Harford County is moving to fill a vacancy on its Board of Education following the resignation of board member Mark Korn, who stepped down for health reasons.

County Executive Bob Cassilly has appointed Jonathan T. Streett to serve the remainder of Korn’s term, which runs through 2028, pending confirmation by the Harford County Council. The appointment ensures continuity on the school board at a time when local education governance continues to carry major weight for counties, from budget priorities to school system oversight and long-term planning.

From the press release:

“Jon Streett brings a lifetime of experience, leadership, and commitment to Harford County,” Cassilly said. “As an 11th-generation resident, a graduate of Bel Air High School, and a parent of three children who attended Harford County Public Schools, Jon understands firsthand the importance of strong public education. His professional background managing large-scale operations, negotiating complex agreements, and leading teams across the globe will bring valuable perspective to the Board of Education.” –  County Executive Cassilly

Professionally, Streett brings a background in large-scale operations and logistics, having held senior leadership roles in the maritime and transportation sector for nearly three decades.

Streett’s appointment must still be confirmed by the Harford County Council before taking effect. If confirmed, he will serve out the remainder of the term through 2028.
