2026 MACo Leadership Installed at Winter Conference

The Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) is pleased to announce the installation of the 2026 Board of Directors and Officers.

On Thursday evening, December 11, 2025, the Governor of Maryland, Wes Moore, installed the MACo Board of Directors for 2026. The installation took place at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel in Cambridge, Maryland, during the MACo Winter Conference Inaugural Banquet.

I am so incredibly humbled and so honored to be able to serve you as your President for the next year. I follow in the footsteps of some incredible leaders, and I stand here in awe of the enormous responsibility that you have placed with you – MC Keegan-Ayer, Council Member, Frederick County & 2026 MACo President

In her acceptance remarks, newly appointed MACo President and Frederick County Council Member MC Keegan-Ayer reflected on the shared responsibility of county leadership and the collective history that has shaped MACo’s role in Maryland. Tying her message to this year’s conference theme, Local Leadership, Lasting Impact: Shaping What’s Next, she emphasized that meaningful progress comes from partnership, open communication, and a commitment to serving communities together.

Looking ahead to the upcoming legislative session, she underscored the importance of collaboration across counties and with state leadership, expressing gratitude for those who laid the groundwork before her and a clear sense of purpose for the year to come.

Sixteen county elected officials make up the MACo Board of Directors. The MACo membership selects these county leaders to serve the Association’s interests, oversee its management and strategic direction, and build and maintain relationships with parties that regularly interact with MACo and counties. The Board works collaboratively with the MACo Legislative Committee, which sets policy positions for the Association and directs its legislative advocacy priorities.
