Board of Public Works Approves $26M+ To Support Water Infrastructure, Jobs, Renewable Energy Projects

Governor Moore included more than $400M in his FY26 budget for Chesapeake Bay and clean water projects. On July 2, 2025, the Board of Public Works approved $26M in funding for projects in Caroline, Prince George’s, and Worcester Counties, along with Baltimore City.

Statewide and county-specific projects were chosen, all focusing on clean water infrastructure. Secretary of the MD Department of the Environment (MDE), Serena McIlwain commented:

“These projects are about more than just clean water. They are about stronger communities and a more competitive Maryland,” said Maryland Secretary of the Environment Serena McIlwain. “We’re talking about local jobs, lower long-term utility costs and improved reliability of essential services. We are supporting economic growth by increasing property values, boosting tourism and supporting clean energy.”

Projects that received portions of the $26M in funding included:

  • Septic System Upgrades – Statewide
  • Pumping Station Replacements – Caroline County
  • Wastewater to Bio-Energy – Prince George’s County
  • Solar Power for Water Plant – Baltimore City
  • Water Line Improvements – Worcester County
