Montgomery County Government has been recognized as a national leader in employee mental health and well-being, earning the 2025 Gold Bell Seal for
Workplace Mental Health from Mental Health America (MHA).
This marks the third consecutive year the County has received this prestigious certification. The Bell Seal is a national certification program that annually recognizes a select group of employers committed to fostering mentally healthy work environments. The Gold Bell Seal is the second-highest designation awarded through Mental Health America’s rigorous evaluation process and reflects strong performance across four key areas:
- Caring beyond compliance
- Holistic wellness programs
- Mental health benefits
- Workplace culture
Based on 2024 data, only one in 10 applicants achieved Gold-level certification, placing Montgomery County among a distinguished group of forward-thinking employers nationwide.
“We are proud to be recognized for our ongoing commitment to supporting the mental well-being of our workforce,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “Public service begins with people. Prioritizing employee mental health and wellness allows us to build a more resilient government ready to meet the present and future needs of our community.”
