Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced this week that Tradepoint Atlantic will establish a new location in Howard County on Route 1 in Savage, investing millions to revitalize the existing property and bringing about 500 new jobs to the county.
Tradepoint Atlantic is known for its multi-billion-dollar redevelopment of the former Bethlehem Steel site at Sparrows Point. County Executive Ball announced that Tradepoint will soon expand its international logistics operations to Howard County, by revitalizing the existing commercial property at 9299 Washington Boulevard in Savage. The company will invest upwards of $100 million to create an office industrial park. This project is expected to produce an estimated 500 new family-supporting supply chain and logistics jobs in Howard County by the end of its three-year projected timeline.
This development will include 500,000 square feet of Class A flex warehousing and industrial facilities across three buildings, creating new opportunities for shipping, storage, and local manufacturing.
From the Howard County press release:
A company like Tradepoint Atlantic could have chosen any variety of jurisdictions to site its first expansion, but Howard County’s strategic location and business friendly approach made this an ideal partnership. We are excited for this locally grown powerhouse of a company to bring needed investment and revitalization to this stretch of the Route 1 corridor.
The Tradepoint Atlantic model for redevelopment at Sparrows Point inspired County Executive Ball’s recent establishment of the Eastern Howard County Enterprise Zone. This massive incentive program for businesses along Route 1 and in Columbia Gateway will offer tax credits and benefits to businesses looking to reinvest in their properties and grow their employment base.
