The Talbot County Department of Emergency Services (DES) has announced the return of the Lifesaver Marathon, a free, community-wide event
dedicated to CPR training and lifesaving education.
Designed to be more than just a training session, this initiative focuses on hands-on learning, interactive demonstrations, and real-world preparedness. Participants will receive expert instruction in CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, skills that can mean the difference between life and death in a critical moment.
“We want to stress to the community that this is a completely free event, and knowing CPR can truly make the difference between life and death,” said Madison Loker, Emergency Management Coordinator. “Whether you’re at the grocery store, the park, or at home, these skills can save lives. We encourage everyone to attend and get involved.”
Beyond training, attendees will have the unique opportunity to explore Talbot County’s one-of-a-kind Ambulance Bus, a vehicle capable of transporting up to 12 patients during mass-casualty incidents. The event will also feature outreach from local organizations, reinforcing the county’s commitment to public safety and emergency readiness.
Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the program (not an official CPR certification).
“We’re ramping things up this year with exciting new additions like the Ambulance Bus tour and community raffle,” said Rachael Cox, event coordinator. “This event is all about empowering our community with lifesaving knowledge in a fun and engaging way.”
Talbot County’s proactive approach to emergency preparedness serves as a model for other communities looking to enhance public safety through education. By ensuring residents have the knowledge and confidence to respond in an emergency, the Lifesaver Marathon is strengthening the county’s resilience—one trained citizen at a time.
