Wicomico County receives a grant award from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) under the Federal Aviation
Administration’s FY25 Airport Infrastructure Grant (AIG) program.
“This funding is a testament to the federal government’s dedication to modernizing local infrastructure,” said Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano. “With the support our Congressional representatives, projects like this enhance the economic vitality and safety of our region.”
The grant, totaling $126,825, will fund Phase 1: Design for replacing equipment in the sponsor-owned federal contract tower at Salisbury Ocean City Wicomico Regional Airport (SBY). This initiative is pivotal to ensuring state-of-the-art safety and operational efficiency for the region’s primary air travel hub.
“Salisbury Regional Airport supports the Eastern Shore’s economy, serving as a hub for local business and tourism, which is why we have fought to secure key federal investments in its growth and success over the years. This latest investment will help ensure the airport can maintain its high standard of air traffic safety and continue serving regional travelers and businesses efficiently,” said Senator Chris Van Hollen.
