Marc Ritacco opened the session by providing an overview of the federal landscape. He then outlined the fiscal impacts of the upcoming federal election, including potential shifts in funding priorities and programmatic uncertainties and how these changes could ripple through local budgets.
Ben Seigel followed with insights on Maryland’s fiscal policies. He emphasized the need for local governments to plan for potential revenue fluctuations and adapt to shifts in State funding priorities driven by evolving federal policies.
Mindy Lehman highlighted innovation-driven strategies and resources available to counties. She brought a unique perspective on innovation-driven funding and economic development and explained how counties can leverage State resources and emerging technologies during uncertain times.
Throughout the session, panelists emphasized key themes: adaptability, collaboration, and the importance of strategic, long-term fiscal planning.
Delegate Griffith closed the discussion by reinforcing the need for local governments to remain vigilant, innovative, and proactive as federal and state dynamics shift.
