Maryland’s six casinos combined to generate $160,524,322 in revenue from slot machines and table games in October 2024, a slight increase of $712,557, or 0.4 percent, compared to October 2023.
In October 2024, casino gaming contributions to the state totaled $68,562,306, reflecting a 1.9 percent increase of $1,307,235 compared to the same month last year. Of this, nearly $49.5 million went to the Education Trust Fund, an increase of 2.0 percent or $964,819 from October 2023.
Notably, cumulative contributions to the Education Trust Fund have surpassed $6 billion since Maryland’s first casino opened in September 2010.

Casino gaming revenues also support local communities and jurisdictions that are home to casinos, Maryland’s horse racing industry, and small, minority—and women-owned businesses.
In 2018, Maryland voters approved an amendment to the State Constitution to safeguard State video lottery terminal revenues for education.
As described in the bill and the ballot question, supplemental funding must total at least $125 million in fiscal 2020, $250 million in fiscal 2021, and $375 million in fiscal 2022. In subsequent years, one hundred percent of the gaming revenues dedicated to public education must be supplemental funding.
