There’s No Rest in Restitution: Opioid Dollars Making a Difference

Maryland communities are turning the tide on the opioid crisis with millions in new funding—discover how local leaders are putting it to work for lasting change.

The opioid epidemic has had devastating effects on Maryland communities, affecting countless lives and straining public health and safety resources. In response, local governments, in partnership with Local Health Departments, elected officials, state agencies, and numerous local stakeholders, have released millions of dollars in settlement funds to support opioid crisis mitigation. These funds empower local jurisdictions to roll out comprehensive, evidence-based strategies focused on public health and harm reduction.

Description: Through the efforts of MACo, elected officials, state agencies, county governments, and many other key stakeholders, Maryland jurisdictions are now receiving millions of settlement dollars to mitigate the harms of the opioid epidemic. Across the state, Local Health Departments are implementing evidence-based strategies to address the public health aspects of the crisis. In this session, counties will highlight the work they are doing and share best practices for public health programs.
