The recently enacted Local Business Preference Program gives local businesses a competitive edge in Calvert County contract bids. The program provides a 5 percent bid deduction for Calvert County-based businesses on contracts under $30,000 and up to $25,000 on larger contracts.
Businesses must have their principal office in Calvert County to qualify. The preference does not apply to contracts restricted by federal or state law, cooperative agreements, or emergency purchases.
Local business groups helped shape the program to ensure it meets the needs of entrepreneurs, driving stronger business participation and boosting the County’s economy through increased tax revenue.
