Anne Arundel Launches Program To Support Minority-Owned Businesses

Anne Arundel County launched the Procurement Access and Vendor Equity (PAVE) Program to increase minority business participation.

Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman recently announced a new initiative, the Procurement Access and Vendor Equity (PAVE) Program. The PAVE program’s goal is to increase inclusion and eliminate barriers for Certified Business Enterprises (CBEs) and Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) in County contracting opportunities. The launch event began with County Executive Pittman signing Executive Order 65, officially creating the Certified Business Coordination Council (CBCC). The CBCC will oversee the implementation of the PAVE Program and monitor efforts to increase Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) participation in procurement.

From the press release:

“Today’s Executive Order ensures that our PAVE program will not only be accountable to data but also to the MBE businesses that have so much to offer our county,” said Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman.

The PAVE Program reflects a commitment to creating a diverse and equitable local economy. Through dedicated training, resources, and outreach, it seeks to provide small, minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses with better access to County contracts. The program has set determined participation goals, targeting 27% by 2027 and at least 30% by 2030.
