Maryland’s 13 retail and 12 mobile sportsbooks generated $60.3 million in contributions to the State during fiscal 2024. Each sportsbook contributes 15 percent of its taxable win to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund, which supports public education programs.
Expired sports wagering prizes are paid to the Problem Gambling Fund and totaled $985,862. The operators of fantasy competitions (including daily fantasy sports) also contribute 15 percent of their revenue to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund. In fiscal 2024, these contributions totaled $983,819.
The statewide handle for fiscal 2024 reached $5.37 billion. Mobile sports wagering accounted for a whopping $5.19 billion, or 96.7 percent, of the total handle. Mobile wagering delivered $58.1 million in tax revenue, while retail sportsbooks contributed $2.2 million.

In 2020, Maryland voters approved a constitutional amendment to expand commercial gaming by authorizing sports and events wagering to raise revenue for education.
Since the inception of Maryland’s sports wagering program in December 2021, cumulative contributions to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund have exceeded $88 million. Cumulative contributions to the Maryland Problem Gambling Fund have exceeded $3.2 million.
