New roadmap just released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on how governments can prepare for the needs of a significantly larger population of older adults.
Late last month, a new 40-page report was released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) outlining the opportunities and challenges of an aging population. Additionally, it defines goals and objectives for addressing critical aging issues. While the study maps the web of services an aging society will need beyond financial security, safe housing and adequate health care, it also elaborates on developing accessible communities, age-friendly workplaces, and high-quality, long-term services and supports.
From the press release regarding the report:
It was developed by leaders and experts from 16 federal agencies and departments working together through the Interagency Coordinating Committee (ICC) on Healthy Aging and Age-Friendly Communities, the report also reflects input from community partners and leaders in the aging services network.
