County attorneys and local government leaders joined the Maryland State Bar Association for its 2024 Local and State Government Section Spring Institute to discuss issues pertinent to jurisdictions statewide.
As members of the Maryland Bar Association, county attorneys enjoy a number of resources available through the state association. The annual Spring Institute for the State and Local Government Section highlights speakers with a unique take on trends and updates that have a specific touch point for MACo members. - An incredibly thorough analysis of how social media is impacting trials and the court systems, as well as the role local governments have in managing this influence. This presentation was offered by Emily D. Baker, the former Los Angeles County Attorney and now Youtube/Podcast Legal Analyst.
- A legislative update from Delegate Luke Clippinger and Senator Dawn Gile.
- Insights from the Moore-Miller Administration on partnership and local collaboration with Asma Mirza, Chief Performance Officer for the administration, who was also joined by Governor Moore’s Chief Legal Counsel, Amanda LaForge.
- A Judiciary update with Justice Jonathan Biran of the Supreme Court of Maryland and the Honorable Douglas R. M. Nazarian of the 2nd Appellate Court of Maryland.
