MD Dept of Planning Webinar: Inclusive Transportation – Rethinking Transportation Planning and Engineering – Sept 19

Maryland Department of Planning to host “Inclusive Transportation – Rethinking Transportation Planning and Engineering” webinar on Tuesday, September 19 at 1:30 p.m.

Participants of this live webinar are eligible for 1.5 AICP CM credits.

In June 2023, Maryland Governor Wes Moore issued a powerful declaration, setting a bold vision for accessible transportation across the state. He emphasized the need to ensure that every Marylander can access opportunities, regardless of their background, zip code, or income. But how do we transform this vision into a reality?

“In each of America’s most influential cities and states, policymakers developed a strategic plan to make transportation accessible for all and they executed it. We must expand transportation options across our state to ensure all Marylanders can get from where they live to where opportunity lies no matter their background, zip code, or income.” Maryland Governor Wes Moore.

Creating and executing accessible transportation plans requires a fundamental shift – putting people before cars and challenging the norms of the transportation industry. It involves acknowledging historical injustices while tirelessly working to build safer, more inclusive systems for the future.

In an upcoming webinar, two distinguished experts, Veronica Davis, author of “Inclusive Transportation: A Manifesto for Repairing Divided Communities,” and Lynn Peterson, author of “Roadways for People: Rethinking Transportation Planning and Engineering,” will draw upon their decades of collective transportation experience. They will share insights, solutions, and strategies to create more equitable and people-centered transit systems.
