This Week: State to Unveil Latest Revenue Estimates

The Board of Revenue Estimates will meet Thursday afternoon to vote on the revised general fund revenue estimates for fiscal years 2023 and 2024.

The forecasts for the current fiscal year and the one that begins in July 2023 will provide budget writers and policymakers with the latest revenue projections and economic trends.

The three-member panel, which includes Comptroller Peter Franchot, State Treasurer Dereck E. Davis, and Secretary of Budget and Management David Brinkley, is responsible for estimating state revenues to assist with managing the State’s budget.

It will be the final BRE meeting for both Franchot, who has served four terms as the state’s chief financial officer, and Brinkley, who has led the Department of Budget and Management for the entirety of Governor Larry Hogan’s eight years in office.

Comptroller-elect Brooke Lierman will be sworn in on January 16, 2023, and Governor-elect Wes Moore has nominated Helene Grady to serve as DBM secretary.

The meeting is open to the public and will take place Thursday, December 15, at 2:00 pm in the Assembly Room at the Louis L. Goldstein Treasury Building.

Thursday’s meeting will also stream live on the Comptroller’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
