MACo’s newest hire is advancing from Research Coordinator to Associate Policy Director.
Sarah Sample, new to the MACo staff in August and making her first appearance at the recent summer conference, will advance to a fully fledged role with the MACo policy team, taking on a portfolio of issues including public health, public safety and corrections, and legal/liability issues. D’Paul Nibber, a member of the policy team for a bit more than one year, resigned to pursue other opportunities, and has helped in the transition for Mrs. Sample’s policy issue coverage.
“We ask a lot of our policy staff,” said Michael Sanderson, “and I’m confident that Sarah will have the energy and ability to deliver right away. We will cover a lot of ground, but MACo’s service to our member counties is in good hands.”
Mrs. Sample has served in multiple capacities with elected officials and political campaigns, with a variety of policy, strategy, communication, and support roles. She also has extensive professional experience in entertainment venue finance, booking, and management with Live Nation Entertainment. Her time there lead to a national leadership role spearheading an expansion division to provide educational entertainment offerings.
Mrs. Sample holds a B.S. in Criminology and a B.A. in Women’s Studies from the University of Maryland. She was a member of the Under 19 Women’s National Soccer team alongside Megan Rapinoe and a scholarship athlete during her time as a Terrapin. As a Maryland resident she has engaged in civic and charitable activities in Anne Arundel County and elsewhere.
