MACo’s Winter Conference is scheduled for January 4-6, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel in Cambridge, MD. Proposals for topics and workshops are being accepted through September 23, 2022.
MACo is pleased to announce the theme of our Winter Conference:
“Hit the Ground Running.”
Presentations will deliver county government fundamentals, along with deep dives on the important issues coming up in the 2023 legislative session. The conference will offer a forward-looking perspective across all levels of government as a new four-year term begins in Maryland.
Sessions will highlight governance best practices, along with in-depth overviews of current county issues and concerns – important information for both new and veteran officials. Anticipated hot topics include continuing pandemic recovery efforts, tourism and economic development, the opioid epidemic, local infrastructure, and public safety, along with more evergreen topics like consensus-building, communications, engaging residents, social media, and leadership training. The Conference Planning Committee intends for there to be a mix of “introductory” and “advanced” courses to appeal to new and veteran officials and professionals.
MACo’s Winter Conference will also feature general sessions and roundtable discussions on the following topics:
- Your County’s High Stakes Fight Against Pandemic(s) and Opioids
- Land Use Planning/Infrastructure
- Public Safety, From the Ground Up
- Looking Past the Politics – What Does Cannabis Implementation Mean for Maryland?
More details (including registration, exhibits, and sponsorships) will be available soon, but interested speakers are encouraged to review the Call for Proposals and submit suggestions by September 23.
Book your hotel room now! Both the Hyatt and the Holiday Inn Cambridge always sell out for this conference!
