The Local Government Insurance Trust (LGIT) is soliciting proposals for the contract position of Trust Counsel. View the RFP – responses due by 11 am on May 1.
The current Trust Counsel is retiring as of June 30, 2020 after having served in that position for 32 years. LGIT was created in 1987 by the Maryland Municipal League and the Maryland Association of Counties. LGIT currently has 190 members in its property and liability program, including 147 municipalities and 17 counties and has over $70 million in total assets.
The position of Trust Counsel is expected to provide legal counsel to the board of trustees and the executive director as needed. The successful applicant is expected to be well versed in insurance and local government law and be licensed to practice law in the state of Maryland. Exceptional written and oral communication skills providing concise, brief and definitive legal opinions in a timely manner are expected. Please review the RFP for detailed instructions on responding.
