The QAC Broadband Committee this week presented their recommendations to the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners. The Committee was formed to advise and provide recommendations to the County Commissioners on the provision of broadband services and infrastructure in Queen Anne’s County.
According to a press release:
The committee recommended:
That they hire a consultant to create a broadband needs assessment to provide a thorough unbiased approach to phasing in broadband to un- and underserved areas of the county.
Once the needs assessment is completed, hire an engineering consultant to consider all broadband transport options along with costs.
With completed plans the committee would make recommendations to Commissioners for expansion of broadband taking advantage of any available County funding as well as any grants or other opportunities that are available.
The County Commissioners approved resources designated for support and operation as well as approval to issue RFP’s for a strategic plan and an engineering plan.
