MACo and the Maryland Rural Counties Coalition will host a leadership retreat weekend for county elected officials from 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12 to noon on Sunday, January 14 at the Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa in Calvert County. This is an exciting opportunity for elected officials to get in-depth, high quality professional development around key leadership topics like self-awareness and personal leadership styles, improving active listening and recognizing bias, and how to navigate disagreements and build consensus.

The retreat will be facilitated by Dr. Joe Thomas and Carol Gaser of the Annapolis Leadership Center, who are also the facilitators for the Shore Leadership program. Their material will be specifically tailored to the unique challenges elected officials – especially part-time elected officials – face on a day to day basis.
