Part motorcycle, part car, the three-wheeled autocycle is the latest type of vehicle regulated in Maryland, reports the Baltimore Sun. The Maryland Department of Transportation publicizes new regulations establishing equipment, performance, and other technical standards for autocycles today in Nottingham.

Governor Larry Hogan signed Senate Bill 774, Motor Vehicles – Autocycles – Standards and Requirements into law on April 26, 2016, and it went into effect on July 1, 2016.  The new Maryland Vehicle Law defines the term “autocycle” and establishes that it is considered a motorcycle under Maryland law. The bill also establishes driver’s licensing requirements for an operator of an autocycle and requires promulgation of the regulations to be publicized today.
