Route Fifty recently released a new ebook: At the Center of Everything: The Current Challenges, Great Ideas and Big Issues Shaping U.S. County Governments; it is available to download for free.

Route Fifty will be in Long Beach covering the [NACo] conference, but in advance of the gathering, which will be held July 22-25 at the Long Beach Convention Center, we put together a package of county-focused stories in a new ebook covering topics like the public health authorities preparing for the Zika virus, the opioid abuse epidemic, law enforcement body cameras and rural economic development efforts.

It includes dispatches from Wise County, Virginia; Maricopa County, Arizona; Washington County, Arkansas; Lake County, Illinois; and Santa Cruz County, California, just to name a few. There’s also a backgrounder on Los Angeles County, the host county for the conference and the nation’s most populous county.
