Collectively, county governments employ over 3.3 million people and account for $482.1 billion in annual community investments, according to NACo, the National Association of Counties in Washington D.C.
This year, NACo is launching a new program, Counties Connect America, that provides an opportunity to be involved in the 2016 Presidential Election and help engage candidates on issues that matter to our shared constituencies. As described by NACo,
Our nation’s counties stand ready to work together to leverage our collective strengths to help meet the challenges ahead. In an effort to strengthen the intergovernmental partnership at all levels, NACo has developed the “Counties Connect America” initiative. The initiative will use the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election cycle as a platform for engaging candidates as they discuss ways to move this country forward together.
Throughout the course of the 2016 election cycle, NACo will provide informational materials to members to help drive this narrative as they interact with candidates. Interested members will also receive updates about the various candidates and any activities in their region. Additionally, NACo and many state associations are working to secure candidates as keynote speakers or participants in candidate forums.
By participating in the “Counties Connect America” initiative, you will be provided the latest news and information as it relates to the 2016 Presidential Election and county engagement.
