Governor Hogan Fills Three Vacant Delegate Seats

On March 13, Governor Larry Hogan filled the three vacant house seats.

According to The Baltimore Sun,

Michael Malone, a lawyer and former chairman of the Anne Arundel County Republican central committee, was named to replace former Del. Cathy Vitale, who represented the Severna Park area before becoming an Arundel Circuit Court judge in January.

Hogan tapped April Rose, a member of Carroll County’s board of elections, to replace now-Sen. Justin Ready. Ready left the House last month to take the seat vacated by Joseph Getty when he became the governor’s legislative director.

The third vacancy went to Washington County commissioner Bill Wivell, taking the seat left open when Andrew Serafini was sworn in last month to represent the county in the Senate.

Former Washington Commissioner Wivell served as county commissioner for 12 years (1998-2010) prior to being elected again in 2014.
