Anne Arundel County to Open a Memory Cafe

A press release from Anne Arundel County’s Department of Aging and Disabilities recently announced the opening of a memory cafe in the County:

The Department of Aging and Disabilities is pleased to announce that a partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Maryland will bring the Memory Café, an early-stage social engagement program, to the Pascal Senior Activity Center beginning in March 2015.

The Memory Café is a safe and relaxed place where people with early-stage memory loss, their care partners, and health and social care professionals can come together for a unique blend of education, socialization and light refreshments.  It is a forum where people can share and talk about various experiences.  Anyone affected by early-stage dementia is welcome to attend.

The Memory Café will meet on the third Monday of each month, beginning on March 16, 2015 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.  As space is limited, participants must RSVP by Wednesday, March 11, 2015.  The Pascal Senior Activity Center is located at 125 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie.

For more information or to register for the Memory Cafe, contact Yolanda Wright, Early Stage/ Support Group Coordinator for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Maryland Chapter, at 410-561-9099 ext. 208.
