At a September 9 meeting of the Concentrating Growth Workgroup of the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission, a Sustainable Growth Indicators subgroup updated the Workgroup on its progress towards proposing new land use and growth indicators. The indicators will be used by the Commission to gauge the long- and short-term performance of the State and local jurisdictions regarding sustainable growth and conservation objectives.
The process is being led primarily by the Maryland Department of Planning (MDP) and the National Center for Smart Growth Research and Education. MACo has requested that prior to any finalization of the proposed indicators that county governments have a chance to review, and comment on the indicators.
