Bill Would Reform Calvert County Commissioner Elections

Calvert Election DistrictsLegislation moving through the General Assembly would alter the means of electing the county commissioners in Calvert County. Under SB 729, the county would change to a system where three of the five Commissioners would be elected to represent districts, while two would run and serve at large. Under current law, all five Commissioners run and serve at large, though at least one must reside within each of the three existing districts.

SB 729 passed the Senate on Monday night, with support from its local Senate representatives.
