Personal Property “Decoupling” Passes Senate

MACo’s initaitve bill to partially decouple the personal property tax rate from the real property tax rate has passed the Senate.

SB 579, sponsored by Senator Robey, was voted out with a unanimous favorable report by the Budget and Taxation Committee, and was passed by the full Senate, also unanimously.

The companion bill in the House, HB 1190 sponsored by Delegate Hixson, received its public hearing last week, but has not yet been voted.
