The Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission has announced that it will be hosting its first annual forum and awards ceremony on Tuesday February 5, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis.

Please join the Maryland Sustainable Growth Commission at the Governor Calvert House in Annapolis for the first annual Sustainable Growth Forum focusing on economic opportunities created by smart growth. The commission will also recognize the significant contributions of individuals, organizations and local governments toward sustainability and positive impact in their communities.
The forum’s keynote speaker, Chris Leinberger, will address “Economic Growth through Smart Growth: How Smart Growth Makes Economic Sense for Maryland.” Mr. Leinberger is a noted speaker and author on sustainable growth and “walkable urban places.” He is a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution.
Following the keynote address, the Maryland Sustainable Growth Awards will be presented.

Maryland Sustainable Growth Award recipients are honored for:
Leadership & Service For activities or accomplishments that advance public appreciation, understanding and/or involvement in promoting smart growth and sustainable communities at the local, regional or state level.
Sustainable Communities For facilitating or creating development that addresses at least one or more of Maryland’s 12 Planning Visions. The Nominations were evaluated in two broad groups: (1) Public projects/programs (2) Private developments.
