The Cumberland Times reports that the State Highway Administration (SHA) awarded a number of contracts for local road and bridge projects in Western Maryland. The largest project will be on the U.S. 220/interstate 68 interchange road that will cost $3.3 million. Highway infrastructure projects that were awarded contracts include:

• Improvement at U.S. 220/Interstate 68 interchange. The $3.3 million contract was awarded to IA Construction of Cumberland and will entail new pavement, payment grinding, resurfacing, and the installation of center line rumble strips.
• Cleaning and painting of bridges on several Allegany County roads. The $879,000 contract was awarded to K&K Painting and Construction Company of Baltimore
• Upgrading of traffic barriers in Allegany and Garrett Counties. $850,000 was awarded to Green Acres Contracting Company, Inc.

The construction is scheduled to be completed by fall.
