ABCD Seeks Nominations For 2011 Community Development Awards

 

Maryland ABCD Network

The Maryland Asset Building and Community Development (ABCD) Network is seeking nominations for its Fourth Annual Awards of Excellence.  The awards will honor organizations and individuals working on asset building and community development for their achievements in three areas:  

  1.  Lorraine Sheehan Memorial Award of Excellence in Advocacy:  Outstanding policy/advocacy work in the field
  2.  Award of Excellence in Collaboration:  Best community collaborations that cut across silos
  3.  Award of Excellence in Innovation:  Innovation/Implementation of cutting edge practices

 The deadline for nominations is September 28, 2011.  Award winners will receive free publicity from the ABCD Network through emails and the ABCD web site as well as discounted membership in the ABCD Network.  

 Nominations are open to 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, government, community organizations and individuals or institutions doing work in Maryland that have implemented a project or activity that can be held up as a best practice in the area of advocacy, innovation or collaboration.  Click here for a nomination form.

The 2010 Awards of Excellence winners were Greater Homewood Community Corporation for excellence in advocacy; Baltimore Clayworks and Newborn Holistic Ministries, for excellence in collaboration; and Old Town Construction, LLC and Bender Property II, LLC, for excellence in innovation.

 The 2011 Awards of Excellence will be presented at the ABCD Network’s Annual Luncheon, scheduled for late October 2011 at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City,Maryland.
