Washington County Commissioners to Consider More FY 11 Budget Reductions

On March 15, the Washington County Commissioners will consider proposed early retirement incentives for employees and organizational restructuring as measures to reduce the current FY 2011 budget by at least $500,000.

Information will be presented on two specific plans:

  • A voluntary incentive program that allows cost savings through retirement and replacement of existing employees; and
  • An organizational restructuring that will continue to increase operational efficiency, consolidate services for ease of access to the public, and reduce the overall number of employees through elimination of vacant positions.

The proposed actions will be in addition to actions taken at the beginning of FY 2011 to cover a $28 million shortfall.
