John William O’Rourke, 82, formerly of Baltimore, MD, but a resident of St. Augustine, FL for the last 22 years, passed away on January 17 of cancer. While living in Maryland he had served three terms as a Baltimore County councilman and was involved in numerous civic and government organizations. It was during that time that he served as MACo President.  He considered MACo the best organization he ever belonged to, and he always remembered fondly his “MACo years” as the best of his political career and the years of which he was most proud. 

After moving to St. Augustine he continued his interest and involvement in community activities and service.

John is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janet S. O’Rourke and predeceased by his brother James E. O’Rourke. He is also survived by his son John and daughter Barbara and was a devoted grandfather to Alex Kandell.
