Federal Budget proposed with Medicaid extension

While the National Association of Counties is still analyzing the details of President Obama’s proposed federal budget, one major issue is already clear. The Obama budget proposes to extend the federal enhancement of Medicaid support for an additional six months, extending provisions originally passed in the 2009 “stimulus” legislation, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Since nearly $400 million in support for the current proposed Maryland state budget for FY 2011 relies on a federal extension of this support, this development could prove helpful for the continuing budget difficulties in Annapolis.
