As the 2026 Winter Games in Milano Cortina continues, you might be surprised to know that four Maryland Olympians are claiming a meaningful
presence on the world stage.
From Frederick County to Baltimore City to Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties, four Maryland-connected athletes are members of Team USA at the 2026 Winter Games.
Noah Grove — Sled Hockey (Frederick County)
A two-time Paralympic gold medalist and four-time World Champion, Grove is one of the most decorated winter athletes ever to come from Maryland. After losing his left leg to bone cancer at age four, he went on to become a dominant force in sled hockey demonstrating resilience and excellence.
Summer Britcher — Luge (Born in Baltimore City)
A seasoned Olympian, Britcher is competing in her fourth Winter Games. She narrowly missed the podium in 2018 and has since earned both silver and bronze medals in international competition. Her longevity alone places her among Maryland’s most notable winter Olympians.
Bryan Sosoo — Bobsled (Prince George’s County)
Making his Olympic debut, 29 year old Sosoo transitioned from track and field into the explosive world of bobsledding. His sprinting power now helps drive one of the fastest starts in winter sport.
Carsten Vissering — Bobsled (Montgomery County)
Another first-time Olympian, Vissering brings a background in elite collegiate swimming to Team USA’s bobsled roster. His strength and precision have translated seamlessly from the pool to the ice.
Maryland may be below the snowbelt, but it continues to produce world-class winter games athletes.
